Bodies/Matter (2018)

Drawing parallels between photochemical processes and western funeral practices, Bodies/Matter visualises the hidden ecologies of death. Traditional western funeral practices often separate the body from nature. The materials of separation percolate the soil. In turn, these substances influence the complex ecologies shaping our environment.

For this project analogue film was subjugated to Formaldehyde for different periods of time. The results range from burn marks to violet hues, emphasising the unpredictable effects of human involvement on our environment.
